Halle Rittgers is A contemporary abstract painter living and working in minnesota.

about

Minnesota based painter and mixed media artist Halle Rittgers creates work that investigates the relationships between memory, her personal experiences in nature, and the organic forms and colors that quote the natural world. Growth and contemplation are present in her work as she makes thoughtful compositional choices, working on paper, raw canvas, and sustainably sourced textiles. There is an ongoing conversation between the organic forms and gestural marks in her work. They create balance and hint at distant memories with her use of mark making and recycled materials from past work. Materiality is also important to her as she explores the way textures and materials work together to form a balanced composition. The overlapping methodology among her pieces unites their variety of materials and process.

Her studies include a BFA in visual arts and a minor in teaching English as a second language from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is the 2020 recipient of the Cameron Booth Memorial Painting Award, and h

er work has been featured in multiple publications. She has also exhibited work in numerous solo shows and group exhibitions around the Twin Cities.
